Brow Lift

Drooping brows and frown lines between your eyebrows can make you appear older than you are. A brow lift from Dr. Azita Madjidi in Houston, TX, can give you a more youthful appearance. Learn how Dr. Madjidi uses her unique global experience to deliver high-quality, personalized results.

What a Brow Lift Can Do For You

A brow lift, sometimes known as a forehead lift, tightens the soft tissues of the forehead, upper eyelids, and eyebrows. This leaves patients with a more youthful appearance. Some benefits of brow lift surgery include:

Reduced Wrinkles

Deep creases in the forehead and frown lines between the eyebrows can make you appear grumpy and older than your age. A brow lift reduces wrinkles without interfering with your ability to make facial expressions.

Repositioned Eyebrows

Drooping brows and hooded upper eyelids can make you look angry even if you're in a happy mood. By repositioning the eyebrows, you can appear younger and friendlier.

Natural-Looking Appearance

Dr. Madjidi takes great care in making as few incisions as possible and using less-invasive techniques. This leaves patients with minimal scarring and natural-looking results.

Evaluating Your Candidacy For a Brow Lift

If you have sagging upper eyelids, drooping brows, wrinkles, or forehead lines, you may be a good candidate for a brow lift or forehead lift.

As for any plastic surgery, candidates should be in good health and have realistic expectations for the outcome of their procedure. Patients should also be nonsmokers or quit smoking prior to their surgery.

The Brow Lift Procedure At Dr. Madjidi's Houston, TX, Office

Day of Procedure

Preparation

Before proceeding with a forehead lift or brow lift, Dr. Madjidi will administer general anesthesia for the patient's comfort.

Incisions

Incisions will be made behind the hairline or in the upper eyelid crease so the skin can be lifted. Dr. Madjidi will make the smallest incisions necessary, and carefully position them to they are concealed after your surgery.

Lift Skin

Dr. Madjidi will then lift the skin and smooth it out to eliminate wrinkles. The brows will be readjusted for a more aesthetic appearance.

Sutures

Excess tissue and skin will be removed before sutures are used to close the incisions.
A brow lift procedure usually lasts one to two hours. Patients see immediate results and will see more benefits of their cosmetic surgery as they progress through the healing process.

Recovering From Brow Lift Surgery

Most patients can return to work about a week after their surgery. Dr. Madjidi and her team will provide you with comprehensive post-operative instructions to prevent infection and minimize discomfort. While recovery instructions are personalized and different for each person, you can expect your post-surgery recommendations to include:

Rest

You will need ample amounts of rest during the first days after surgery. Strenuous exercise should be avoided for the first few weeks after your brow lift procedure.

Medication

Dr. Madjidi may prescribe pain medication to help manage any discomfort after your surgery.

Cold Compress

A cold compress should be used to minimize swelling and inflammation.

Elevate Your Head

Sleeping upright for the first week after your surgery will help reduce swelling and discomfort.

Brow Lifts in Men vs. Women

Because men and women have different facial shapes and aesthetic considerations, Dr. Madjidi uses different brow lift techniques to give each a younger, more vibrant appearance.

Brow Lifts for Women

In women, the ideal position for the tail of the eyebrow is about 1 cm above the orbital rim. Brow lift incisions can usually be placed at the hairline. Too short of a distance between the eyelashes and eyebrow can create an unattractive appearance, so for some women Dr. Madjidi may recommend combining a brow lift with upper eyelid surgery for a natural and aesthetic look.

Brow Lifts for Men

Men's brows are both lower and have less of an arch than women's brows; if the same technique as a woman's brow lift were used, the results would be too feminine. In men, the best position for the eyebrow is just at the orbital rim. An incision may be made in the thicker skin of the forehead, where it will be hidden within the natural creases.

Not Interested in Surgery? Consider BOTOX

If you are experiencing minimal signs of aging but don't want to undergo plastic surgery, Dr. Madjidi may recommend BOTOX®. These injections can modify the shape of your eyebrows and reduce wrinkles and lines around the eye area, such as crow's feet.
