Your Chemical Peel Consultation
During consultation, Houston plastic surgeon Dr. Azita Madjidi listens to your concerns and helps you find the best solution for your particular need. During treatment, chemical solution is applied to the surface of the skin to remove the outer layers of damaged skin. During healing which lasts about seven days, new skin is formed. No skin preparation is needed.
The skin is gently cleansed to prepare it for a better peel penetration. Then the Vi Peel is applied in only a few minutes. It is virtually painless. The face will not look different. It may seem slightly tanned. You can go back to work if you like. Dr. Madjidi will give you a kit with full instruction on how to use it. The peel process starts by the end of the third day and lasts three to four days. The more dead skin you have, the more you will peel.
It is recommended to avoid any sun exposure during the recovery time because the new skin is temporarily more sensitive to sun. Once the peeling stops, you will still continue to feel the tightening effect for a few more weeks.
The solution can be applied to the entire face or to particular areas such as around the mouth or the eyes, neck, chest, and hands. Chemical peel can be done at the same time as a facelift or eyelid surgery to the areas not affected by the surgery.
The Vi Peel is designed to be used three to four times a year to help reverse and prevent the signs of aging and sun damage on the skin. To treat darker spots, the Vi Peel may be repeated once a month until the desired result is obtained. Other skin care products may be used once the peel process is achieved.
The Vi Peel can also be used to clear acne. A series of peels may be necessary since results vary with each individual.
Recovery from Vi Peel is fast. Minimal or no down time is required.
