Liposuction
What Is Liposuction?
/
Liposuction isn't a weight loss procedure; it improves your body contours by reducing excessive bulges or fullness in certain areas. You may not see a difference in your weight. However, you will notice a difference in your clothing size and fit.
What Areas of the Body Can Liposuction Refine?
Liposuction procedures work to remove fat deposits. They can be performed alone or in conjunction with another procedure to improve the overall result. The typical treatment areas for this procedure are:
- Neck
- Back
- Waist
- Abdomen
- Breasts
- Arms
- Hips
- Buttocks
- Thighs
- Calves
Determining If You're a Candidate For Liposuction
Weight
You'll need to be near your target weight before we can schedule your liposuction procedure. That's because liposuction is not a weight loss treatment — it's intended for targeted fat removal. You should be about 10 to 15 pounds from your ideal weight before planning plastic surgery.
Overall Health
Before proceeding with any plastic surgery plans, our Houston team will need to ensure that you're in good health. This could involve lab work or other methods to assess your overall fitness and wellbeing. We do this to make sure you're at minimal risk of complications.
Realistic Goals
It can be easy to see liposuction as the perfect solution. Like all procedures, though, it has its nuances. Dr. Madjidi will discuss your goals with you during your consultation to make sure that they are realistic. This talk will help you feel empowered about accurate possibilities.
Stretch Marks
Stretch marks can be a sign of poor skin elasticity. Liposuction may make stretch marks more noticeable by causing excess loose skin after treatment. If your procedure would cause loose skin and skin elasticity has been lost, it may also be necessary to discuss excess skin removal or to reconsider treatment.

The removed fat will not come back. However, you should know that during weight gain, the remaining fat cells in other body parts that have not been suctioned will enlarge.
VASER® Liposuction Provides Easier Treatment
If you are interested in precise fat removal and body contouring and think you may be a good candidate for lipo, consider VASER® liposuction.
It's an advanced technique that uses ultrasound technology to gently liquefy fat before it is removed. This type of liposuction is extremely precise and targets only unwanted fat cells.
It allows Dr. Madjidi to treat even the most stubborn pockets of fat. By reducing trauma to the surrounding tissue, VASER® liposuction offers minimized discomfort, reduced bleeding, and a shorter recovery period.
The Hidden Advantage Of Liposuction
Have you lost facial volume? A more youthful look is possible, thanks to a fat transfer using your own natural fat.
With a modified liposuction technique, Dr. Madjidi can process some of the excess fat that was removed from unwanted areas and transfer it to parts of your body where the fat has been lost over the years.
Cheeks, laugh lines, and circles under the eyes can all be greatly improved with your own fat during the same session.
Liposuction Recovery What to Expect
Based on the area itself, the number of areas of concern, and the amount of lipo needed, the procedure can be done in the office as an outpatient procedure, or with an overnight stay. You will be kept comfortable with local or general anesthesia. It's important to have someone you trust there to drive you home.
Dr. Madjidi will go over post-operative care, answering any questions or concerns that you may have. During the first week or so, you will need to rest in bed. You will also need to take a break from housework, exercise, and other strenuous activities for about four to six weeks until cleared to return to normal. A compression garment is necessary for some time after the surgery.
You can expect most of the swelling and bruising to be gone in two to four weeks with the final results in about six months. Once the swelling subsides and the healing is completed, some areas may require revision for top results.
