Breast Implant Exchange
Conveniently located to serve Houston, Sugar Land and Pasadena
New technology and materials mean that breast implants can last longer than ever before. However, even the best implants will eventually need to be replaced because of rupture or changes in your body. Other patients are dissatisfied with the results of a previous breast augmentation, and wish to undergo revision surgery. To accommodate these patients, Dr. Azita Madjidi offers breast implant exchange at her Houston practice. If you need to address a breast implant-related complication, or simply wish to achieve different results, Dr. Madjidi can help you reach your goals and achieve a bust line that helps you feel beautiful and confident. Am I a Candidate for Implant Exchange?
Dr. Madjidi takes great care to provide her patients with the satisfying results they desire, and her work over the years has carried a very low rate of capsular contracture (the tightening of scar tissue surrounding the breast implant, resulting in a distorted shape). However, it is important to understand that implants do not last forever, and as your body changes, your implants may not provide the desired effect.
There are a number of reasons that you might seek an implant exchange:
- Your implant has turned or shifted out of place
- Your implant has leaked or ruptured
- Your implant has started to wrinkle
- You are suffering from capsular contracture
- You did not achieve your desired results from a previous breast augmentation
- As you have aged, your breasts have changed, and the shape and contours of your bust line are no longer satisfying
- You are simply ready for a change
Dr. Madjidi can determine if you are a candidate for breast implant exchange during a consultation.
New Innovations in Breast Augmentation
If you received implants several years ago, you might be considering implant exchange because you want to benefit from new implant materials and placement techniques. Recently approved by the FDA, gummy bear implants have quickly become a popular option among breast augmentation patients. These silicone implants contain a more dense silicone than what is used in standard silicone implants, and are often recommended to patients who have very small breasts, or have undergone several breast implant revisions.
You may also be interested in what can be achieved with new placement techniques. For some women, the dual plane method of implant placement can provide more realistic-looking results than the more common submuscular and subglandular techniques. Though not all doctors offer it, Dr. Madjidi has had great success with dual plane implant placement. Using this technique, she will place the top portion of the implant under your pectoral muscle and the bottom portion of the implant above your muscle. This provides a natural-looking fullness to the bottom of your breast, as well as attractive projection.
